The month has arrived where costumes, candy, parties, and festivals flood every feed on social media. Halloween is one of the most celebrated holidays out there. It also happens to be my favorite holiday. I mean who doesn’t like to be someone or something different for a day. I love to see people’s creativity when it comes to costumes. One important piece of a costume is the makeup and this month Boxycharm has you covered. The alter ego themed box is sure to have the finishing touches to your look. Let’s get into what dark and mysterious products we got this month.
Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick:
This is my first time ever trying the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid lipstick. I got the shade Hawkwind, which was perfect because it is a shade that I would normally use. This matte liquid lipstick felt great on the lips. It wasn’t too drying which was great. You definitely feel the formula creamy and smooth. It is infused with Vitamin E and sunflower seed oil to give your lips the moisture it needs. Plus it is cruelty free and vegan. I absolutely loved this lipstick and I’m glad I finally got the chance to try it out. It now joins the stockpile of liquid lipsticks I have. Retails for $20
Farmacy Beauty Green Clean:
My FAVORITE product in this box! This green cleansing balm is perfect for heavy duty makeup removal. I was a little skeptical at first because when I saw the word balm, I thought of the texture being like a lip balm but for your face and I thought omg this may be like somewhat sticky and boy was I wrong. It felt smooth, non sticky, and easy to work with. It has this subtle lime scent that I really loved and when I put it to the test it took my eye makeup real easily and left my skin feeling soft. If you haven’t tried this balm yet, it is a MUST! Retails for $22.
It Cosmetics Superhero Elastic Stretch Volumizing Mascara:
I have tons of mascara and I’m always looking to see what other mascara’s out there are just as good as my top picks. This one is a good mascara. It lengthens and gives that volume to your lashes. It makes your lashes thick, which is one of the things I look for in getting a good mascara. I hate mascara’s that don’t give my lashes that full look. I like having mine dark and thick together so it can give that dramatic look. I know it all has to do with what type of wand you’re working with and this mascara has a great wand for all that. I have received this mascara before so since I have it already, I will be giving this one away on my Instagram, along with other really cool goodies. So head over to isacrissy on IG and follow me to stay tuned on the giveaway happening this week. Retails for $24.
Dermovia Lace A Peel Black Bamboo Charcoal Peel Off Mask:
My most HATED product in this month’s box. I really don’t like when you have to feel pain using a product and this one did just that. It comes with a charcoal paste and 2 lace masks, which I did find to be pretty cool. This paste is supposed to do a deep decongestion and exfoliation on your skin. It’s like getting the spa treatment but at home. The paste looks like black tar with a scent I’m not too crazy for. When I tried this out and put the paste on the areas I wanted it on, I was like ok this isn’t so bad. Once I put the lace mask on it went downhill. I left it on for 20 minutes and when it came time to remove it, OMG I felt like my skin was peeling off. It hurt so bad. I’m 100% positive that it definitely took out all the impurities in my skin but man did it hurt in the process. The concept is great and the mask being lace was pretty neat but I’m not a fan of products that cause you pain in any way. So, I won’t be using this product anymore. I don’t recommend it unless you’re immune to pain but coming from a mask junkie, this is not one of my faves. Retails for $30.
Pur The Complexion Authority Midnight Masquerade Palette:
The star of the box for this month is the Midnight Masquerade palette. I’m not going to lie, when I heard that the palette was going to be from Pur I was a bit disappointed as I haven’t had the best experiences with Pur products. In previous boxes, I have tried products from Pur that have been too powdery, the kick back is insane, and they just doesn’t perform the way I like them to. So I was a bit worried about this palette but it turned out to be good. This palette is perfect in the sense that it has all you need in one for your face. You’ve got eye shadows, highlighters, and blushes. Plus, it comes with a little mirror. I loved the theme for it. I have yet to attend a Masquerade party so I’ll be breaking this out when that time comes. The shadows were really nice. I loved the shade selection. My favorite being disguise. There wasn’t much fallout as previous palettes, which I was so happy about, the pigmentation on everything in this palette was really nice, and the shadows were easy to work with. I’m happy that I finally found something from Pur that I can really sink my teeth into and enjoy. Below, I have posted a look that I created using a good chunk of the shades in this palette. Feel free to try it out for your next Masquerade ball. Retails for $38.
In the end, this month’s box introduced me to a new product that I fell in love with, which was the green clean. It also introduced me to a product I will never use again (lace masks) but overall it was great box. I’m glad that I got a Kat Von D liquid lipstick and in a shade that I love, the mascara is a really good one. I have one from another sub box in the past so this one will be put in a giveaway. If you want to enter the giveaway, head over to my Instagram page: isacrissy and stay tuned as that giveaway will take place sometime this week. The Midnight Masquerade palette definitely surprised me. I’m glad that something from Pur finally worked out for me and I will be using it going forward. I’m excited to see what November has in store for us. I’ve gotten a bit of a sneak peek, thanks to Kim Kardashian West herself and all I can say is November is going to be great!!
